Dear Friends,

It is with great sadness that I announce that our friend, Gisele Turgeon-Barry, President of The Point St. Charles History Society lost her long battle with cancer on Monday, April 4th at the Verdun General Hospital. Thank God for her that her passing was fast.

Her determination brought the History Society to a new level; she has left an indelible mark on our history.

Montreal - The Historical Society of Pointe-Saint-Charles, in collaboration with The Point St.Charles Community Theatre announces Joe Beef Market, Saturday, September 11, 2010.

This recurring event is to commemorate various events in the history of Point St. Charles and revive the San Gabriel market. The latter, created in 1862 following a citizen petition, was on the current location of the park Joe Beef Street Centre Street, between Richmond and Montmorency. It also moved its premises as the first fire station in the neighborhood in 1867.

Montreal - Walking along Center Street, a passersby will soon be able to remember various times in the life of the Point St. Charles neighborhood.  From Richmond Street to d’Argenson Street, a dozen photo interpretation panels, grouped together in themes, will be displayed in the windows along the street.

The Société d'histoire de Pointe-Saint-Charles (The Point St. Charles History Society) is pleased to announce that our 4th Annual Joe Beef Market will take place on Saturday, September 10th 2011 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Joe Beef Park on Centre Street in the Point.
